Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. Velacompress compresses your images inside your browser using WebAssembly. Nothing is sent to a server, and you can confirm it in your browser’s network tab. Your files never leave your machine.
How is Velacompress different from TinyPNG?
TinyPNG uploads your images to its servers to compress them, and its free tier limits how many you can process. Velacompress runs entirely in your browser, so there is no upload and no per-batch limit on desktop. You pay once instead of subscribing.
How is it different from Squoosh?
Squoosh also runs locally, which is great, but it is built around compressing one image at a time. Velacompress is built for batches — drag in a folder and process everything in one pass.
What input formats are supported?
You can bring in JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, and HEIC files.
What output formats can I export?
WebP, JPEG, and AVIF. AVIF export is included with the Pro license.
Is there a file size or batch limit?
On desktop Chrome or Edge there is no fixed batch limit — the practical ceiling is your machine’s memory. On mobile browsers and Safari, batches are capped to prevent crashes.
How much does it cost?
A one-time payment of $30. No subscription and no recurring fees.
What does "lifetime license" mean?
Your license is valid for the commercial lifetime of the product — that is, for as long as Velacompress is commercially operated. It is a one-time purchase, not a time-limited trial.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Velacompress runs in your browser. There is nothing to download or install.
Which browsers are supported?
Chrome and Edge give the full experience, including writing compressed files straight back to a folder. Firefox and Safari are supported too; on those, results are delivered as a ZIP archive.
Can I use it offline?
After the first load, the core of the app is cached, so compression keeps working without a connection. Buying or activating a license needs to be online.
What happens after I buy?
You receive a license key by email within about a minute. Paste it into the unlock page, and the Pro features activate immediately.
Do you offer refunds?
Because the software runs immediately on activation, purchases are final once a license is activated. See the Terms of Service for the full policy.
